 Luetkemeyer had been considered a long shot.

He beat two other Republicans vying for the seat vacated by Representative Jim Ramstad.

Luetkemeyer challenged her in a primary that year, and while he did win.

He is the only Republican in Congressional who has beaten them in every race he's run in this district.

Democrat Luetkemeyer beat Republican Brandon Wilkinson, Dustin Hill, and Richard Skwira Jr

By 50,231 votes with 70% in Tuesday’s race, according to official results.

The victory gives Democrats a slight edge in both chambers of Congress and will make him Louisiana's first GOP congressman from his state since Reconstruction.

Luetkemeyer would be the first congressman from Missouri who was not originally from the state.

Congressman Luetkemeyer would represent the newly redrawn 3rd District

which now encompasses much of eastern and central Missouri, including the cities of Jefferson City, St. Peters, Columbia and St. Louis
